Stone Brewing – Richmond

This 224,000 SF brewing and distribution facility acts as the east coast hub for California-based Stone Brewing. The building provides for all aspects of the brewing process including production, packaging, storage, and distribution.

The construction of this large brewery required intricate planning and coordination to ensure seamless integration of the brewing process, which manages multiple fermentation lines, high-volume glycol piping, and safety protocols in a food-grade environment. In order to brew and distribute their craft beer product, Stone Brewing’s manufacturing components include brewing equipment, two centrifuges for higher throughput and improved clarity in the final product, motor control centers, process piping, fermentation tanks, and can/bottle lines.

The facility also supports offices and a retail/beer garden area. The elevated tank farm structure supports 40 fermentation tanks to allow for the production of over 600,000 barrels of beer per year, distributed up and down the East Coast and west to Denver, Colorado.

A design-build project, this building was completed in 14 months.
