Greensville Aquatics Center
The Greensville Memorial Foundation Aquatic Center will promote community wellness in Emporia, VA. Built of joint masonry construction and panning 12,000 square feet, the aquatics center is a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to inclusivity, health, and recreational excellence. Successfully undertaking a pool construction project for a joint masonry and steel pool and recreation facility requires meticulous planning, strict adherence to local building codes, precise engineering to ensure structural integrity, and effective coordination between the masonry and steel components for optimal results.
Inside, four dedicated swimming lanes cater to both recreational and competitive swimmers, with the expansive pool boasting a capacity of over 99,000 gallons and a surface area of 4,080 square feet. The zero-entry area provides safe access and ensures a welcoming space for individuals of all ages and abilities.
Beyond swimming, the Aquatic Center is a versatile space with programs for all skill levels, separate areas for basketball and volleyball, and a designated toddler play area. This facility will foster physical wellbeing and provide a dynamic space where the community can come together for a range of recreational activities.
Swimming pool construction requires strict compliance with local building codes and safety regulations to ensure the pool meets all necessary standards. Additionally, proper engineering, filtration, and water circulation systems are implemented to maintain water quality and safety for swimmers. Hourigan, as the construction manager, plays a pivotal role in coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the pool construction, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
