Students from the Building Construction and Construction Engineering & Management Departments are required to participate in the Capstone Course during the final semester of their senior year. The Capstone Course is slightly different each year, but the purpose of the course is to provide the students with a Request of Proposal for a real life project. Students work together in teams to provide a design and construction solution, and submit a written response and a final presentation to industry board members, alumni and guests. This year, Clark and Kyle are volunteering with Professor Walid Thabet to help the students work through the process of developing a RFP response for a Design-Build project.

“It’s always a pleasure to come back to Virginia Tech,” Kyle said. “It feels like yesterday that I was sitting on the other side of those tables. I’m grateful to Professor Walid for allowing us the opportunity to participate with the students and give something back to the college that gave so much to me.” Kyle is a Virginia Tech alumni where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Construction Engineering and Management. Clark is a graduate of East Carolina University where he also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering and Management.
