Did you know that individuals that work in the construction industry have a higher occurrence of cardiovascular disease than those in other industries? As a construction management firm, this statistic hits close to home. It’s one of the drivers that made us look internally and ask, “What can we do about employee wellness?” The answer for us was easy—implement a company-wide wellness program that we have named “Thrive.”
For us, employee wellness rests on four pillars that represent aspects of our employees’ whole being and, if aligned, provide individual and organizational strength. These pillars consist of:
We believe that strong companies are built around strong teams. We implemented the Thrive program to create a culture of wellbeing. Our employees dedicate an immense amount of time and energy to the betterment of our organization. In return, we want our employees to know that we care about them in their entirety—their physical health, financial health, resiliency, and sense of community. Thrive is all about our employees being able to achieve their full wellness potential, and we want them to know that we will be there to support them along the way.
Thrive is an extension of our shared values. Our commitment to wellness emphasizes our pledge to encourage everyone’s success, to create opportunities for personal development, and to connect and give back to our communities.
We want our employees to achieve life balance. One size does not fit all when it comes to achieving personal and professional balance, but we strive to foster an environment where our employees are happy and feel supported to achieve stability. This is why the Thrive program consists of so many components:
With an array of topics and opportunities, our employees can tailor their Thrive experience to best meet their needs.
Knowledge is power. By providing wellness educational opportunities and resources, our employees are empowered to make smart, informed, and personalized decisions regarding their overall wellness.
Implementing Thrive allows our employees to reap personal benefits, including feeling more productive and engaged at work, and experiencing reduced levels of stress; but to us it’s much more than that. We want our employees to not only reap those benefits, but to know that their health and wellbeing is of the utmost importance to us—we truly care.
