A true success story within Hourigan, Marquita Edmonds has forged an impressive career path from laborer to Diversity & Inclusion Manager. With nearly two decades of experience across multiple roles—including foreman, assistant superintendent, and safety coordinator—she has a firsthand understanding of the company’s culture and operations.

In her current role, Marquita spearheads Hourigan’s subcontractor outreach initiatives, forging strategic partnerships with Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and Small, Women, and Minority (SWaM)-owned businesses. She works closely with project teams to implement diversity strategies, ensuring inclusivity is embedded into every phase of a project. Additionally, she leads workforce development efforts, engaging with thousands of students and professionals annually to promote careers in construction.

Beyond external outreach, Marquita plays a pivotal role in shaping Hourigan’s internal culture. She champions company-wide diversity initiatives that foster an inclusive and equitable workplace, leading Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that provide support, advocacy, and community for employees. Through these efforts, she helps cultivate a work environment where diverse perspectives are valued and employees feel empowered to grow and succeed.

Passionate about building capacity and opportunity, Marquita continues to elevate Hourigan’s commitment to diversity as a business imperative.

For Marquita, Hourigan is truly a family affair—where she has worked alongside her father, Willie, who serves as Assistant Warehouse Manager for the Equipment Rental team.
